Once inside the muscle cells, Creatine gets attached to a high energy phosphate molecule to become Creatine Phosphate. Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is an organic compound found in the muscle and is the primary energy carrier in all living organisms. Exercise burns ATP molecule and it loses a phosphate molecule to become ADP. ADP cannot continue to provide any energy. If you have enough Creatine stored up in your system, it recharges ADP to become ATP again by donating its phosphate group, and thereby contributes to a greater extent by being a driving source behind the constant energy production.
As you know, there is no shortcut to getting muscles, you have to go with resistance training like lifting weights. When you combine Creatine with your weight training, you get bigger muscles in a shorter amount of time. Creatine is found to be anticatabolic, it maintains the nitrogen balance of muscles and reduces muscle breakdown. It is so effective in boosting the rate of muscle growth that Creatine is acknowledged as the most effective supplement for muscle mass enhancement among all the supplements.
Although Creatine is arguably one of the most popular supplements, it is attached to one common myth that it leaves you dehydrated! Creatine does draw water from plasma in the blood to do its work and stores the additional water into the muscles, making the muscles look bigger and firmer by the process of cell volumization. This doesn’t mean it lets you dehydrated. The stored water hydrates the muscles and promotes muscle protein synthesis.
Creatine lets you work harder in the gym and get some incremental gains in strength and hypertrophy. Creatine although causes an increase in cell volume that makes the muscles look bigger, the weight gain caused is a combination of the addition of some lean muscle mass with increased intramuscular water retention. Creatine will make you gain the weight you want: lean, solid muscle mass.
